Colour. The one thing that always strikes us about Morocco. Even on a rare, overcast day, it is a country filled with the most vibrant colours, hues and shades. Marrakech Menara airport has a cool, marble toned palette – perfect as you land in a heat that you rarely experience back in Manchester!
And, then – Marrakech. It’s everything you would imagine of a city, which fuses Arab, Western, French, Berber and so many other influences. It is hot, noisy, crammed, aroma-filled – and my word, it is colourful! Everything has a colour – and every colour is intense. There are no insipid magnolia tones here!
And then there’s Essaouira. Hippy chic. Historical. A completely authentic Moroccan working town and port. Originally called Mogador – blue – this is the colour that stands out. The sky, the sea, the paintwork, the fishing boats. But mixed in with huge, bold pops of sunshine colours. Never a grey day here – even when it is grey 🙂
