Quick backstory if you don’t know our story.
June 2016 – visited Croatia on holiday (Zadar). Loved it.
July 2016 – saw a house online for sale in Istria, northern Croatia. Flew out on impulse, loved it.
August 2016 – put our West Didsbury house 0n the market and made an offer on the Istria house which was accepted.
December 2016 – flew out to Istria to sign house documents & pay for it.
January 2017 – sold our West Didsbury house.
March 2017 – moved into the house in Istria. Lock, stock & barrel! And this is how we found ourselves on the first day of the month…
Not for long though, did we have those empty rooms, as the very next day, every single thing we owned arrived, on a lorry, from storage in the UK.
And, from that day we’ve been turning the cold, empty house into a warm, vibrant, contemporary and hopefully, increasingly beautiful space. Our renovation story is threaded through this website, but what has been really lovely, has been the unpacking of small, single items over the last year and finding new homes for them. These will mean nothing to most people reading this, but to us, and to some people, these belongings are significant and are an indication that the house is really becoming a home…
And there we have it. Some of the things that are helping us to create a beautiful home – because they have all been part of a beautiful home before 🙂 And, judging by the fact we still can’t really get into our cellar – which we have high hopes of transforming into The Snug – there’s a lot more where this all came from…
