December has been wet. Very wet. Northern England has suffered terrible flooding and on Xmas Day, on our drive up north, the windscreen wipers didn’t stop…
So, on Christmas Sunday, when we saw blue skies for the first time in what seemed like weeks, we decided to head out into the sunshine. We’re very lucky that we have family who live on the Durham/Northumberland border and so have many beautiful – usually remote places – literally on the doorstep. The NE coast is always a pull, but this time we decided to head to Blanchland, a conservation village, built of stone from the remains of the 12th century Abbey and home of the reputedly haunted Lord Crewe Arms.
The perfect place for blowing away the cobwebs & walking off the Xmas excesses 😉
