On our last trip to Copenhagen we wanted to find somewhere quite special to eat – but we were quite specific about what we wanted. We’d checked out Noma online – thankfully, the restaurant was closed during our stay, otherwise we’d obviously had made a booking. At 1900DKK (currently just under £160 pp) we couldn’t think of a better way to spend in excess of £300… 😉
Online searches pointed us in the direction of Madklubben, a very cool, underground looking restaurant not too far from where we were staying in Vesterbro – and we’d have had to have eaten quite a lot to get anywhere the Noma bill!
We visited on a Monday evening but it was buzzing. Clearly, this was the place for cool Danes to hang out at the start of the week. Industrial chic and effortlessly stylish, with staff who were just lovely & friendly. (As were most, to be fair, in every place we visited in Copenhagen).
Prices and menu choices were very comparable to what we’d expect to pay here in Manchester in a decent, stylish restaurant. So, not cheap as chips but not on the Noma scale. Wine, too, was very decent price-wise and plenty of choice.
The photographs above are not the best, but food was amazing. More than adequate portions and with two glasses of prosecco and a bottle wine, coming in at 690DKK meant we had a lot of spending money left over. Which, if we’d gone to Noma, we definitely wouldn’t have had 😉
